Ayami

Ayami grew up in Nagasaki, among the sea and mountains.
She liked painting since she was very little, but only began to professionally paint at the age of 21.
She worked as a graphic designer at the age of 18, and worked for quite a long time. From morning to evening, she was unable to paint at all.
When she reflected on the difference between making art for someone and making art for yourself, she started questioning if this was the right way to live for her. She thought about what she really wanted to do, and that was making art.
From that point on, she focused on becoming an artist.
She is now painting while working as a freelance graphic designer.
Her paintings are influenced by her experiences as a graphic designer, such as drawing eyes and using digital colors.
The theme in her artworks is “it can only be expressed in a picture.”
In the exhibition at Chelsea, NY, she chose to use only three colors because of the theme, Made in Japan. She expressed the scenery of Japan in a cat’s perspective and tried to show Japan through a cat’s point of view.
