Kenichi Sugimoto grew up in a nature-rich city in Hokkaido, and always strongly felt the four seasons.
At Hosei University, he learned about the coexistence of nature and humans, such as construction and city planning. After graduating in 2003, he got involved in public promotion that physically connects people, such as space production and event designing. After becoming independent as a director and designer in 2008, he studied design and essential communication design of people at Musashino Art University. There, he encountered picture books, learned how to express pictures and stories, and worked as a writer. Many of his paintings are simple and have powerful representations of animals, which are symbols of nature. In addition to this, the story-like picture, which is unique to a picture book writer, is attractively expressed in one picture with relatively opposite things, such as creatures that are a little poisonous in their cuteness. As a result, a work with a secret story is created.
