Nature that was born from water wants to draw the hope of people who grow toward the light.
It expresses the state of mind toward the bright side and the deep sadness that disappears as bubbles. Water also has a purifying effect. Her hometown Sendai that disappeared from the tsunami has found the light of hope and is rising from the circle of people. Water can be a serious threat to people, but at the same time, it moisturizes and heals people.
Megumi Kai’s work, Water series was created by flushing the anguish and sadness with pure water that protects and gives you pleasant purification and healing.
Her painting reminds you of a light that stretches toward hope in the water.
Water Series is made with glue, Natural Pigments, Nikawa, Gold, Silver, and Japanese Paper.

Megumi Kai is a painter based in Yokohama.
Through the creation of Japanese-style painting on Japanese paper using mineral pigments, she vividly expresses the world of nature that amazed her with her singular worldview. The world painted in bright and brilliant colors that give the viewers a warm heart and bright hope uses gold leaf and silver leaf in the base paint to represent the glow of life. Her recent works are themed around water, and she has been working on expressing water by observing it from various angles. Amid the closed atmosphere in the coronavirus pandemic, her images embody her longing for purification and healing through the flow of fresh, clean water. Her dream is to share hope and healing with people around the world through her paintings.
