Ann was born in a small town in Gunma, Japan and grew up surrounded by mountains and flowers. She liked playing alone and has been painting pictures since she was little. She was influenced by Kenji Miyazawa’s books and started to paint a world of fantasy. At the age of fifteen, she learned how to sew clothes & kimonos, making the best and craziest embroideries. A woman once asked Ann to “ draw a lively picture” when she saw her painting a circle. She started painting a fantastic painting with three-dimensional, floating circles using acrylic paints. Inside the circle world were strange creatures. In the Circle World, all creatures eat a circle and don’t eat each other because they respect each other. The source of her inspiration comes from the circle of life and death, and the mystery of nature. Her embroidery uses 280 kinds of stitches with mirror-embroideries and beads. The main concept of her artwork is that it uses many colors under the theme of life and death. She tries to convey the message that the natural cycle of being born and dying is wonderful. The colorful world of fantasy and reality created by her embroidery and acrylic paints, attracts viewers and spreads infinitely in the world of imagination.

Ann’s history of major awards,1992 “National Knitting Handicraft competition” Monbudaijin first prize, Tokyo 2012 “Handicraft work Exhibition” Winning, Tokyo 2017 “ART SENSE vol 4” ARTIFE prize for Gunma Prefecture 2017 “Gunma Prefecture Exhibition” Winning for Gunma Prefecture
