Chika Shinoda was born in 1987 in Tokyo.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, she became aware of the “uncomfortable” feeling in the world.
Her works, at times, have a dark atmosphere that is in line with reality, and at other times, have a colorful atmosphere that depicts her ideal future. Using collage and mixed media techniques, she uses the “sense of discomfort” as the basis for her art. She also puts the awareness and inspiration she has experienced in her personal life into her art as a message that is necessary for the “world today” and the “world in the future”.
Her passion for her work can be felt in the impactful and powerful texture.
She started her career as an artist in 2020.
In July of the same year, she won the sponsorship prize at the World Painting Grand Prize Exhibition, and her work was exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
In November, she will participate in her first group exhibition focusing on collage, and in May-June 2021, she will participate in a selected exhibition at Tokyo Ginza Gallery.
