Mayumi Kiryu came across a work of alcohol ink art and was struck by how it creates paintings with wind, which led her to start experimenting with the art form on her own.
With her conscious choice of the colors in the Japanese traditional color palette and those you find in nature, she works on pieces that combine several techniques and materials with the alcohol ink art as the base.
Her ongoing theme is “the creation of colors that the viewers cannot forget.”
Just as the odor of perfume you smelled in the past and the music you hear out of nowhere bring memories back to life, the colors expressed in her works will become one of the catalysts that bring the viewers back to the time they cherish.
In her works, you will find “natural hues of colors” blended in the “ unforgettable moments” and “precious memories” that arise in a random slice of life. She creates her art motivated by her desire to pass on the traditional colors and identity of Japan, which have been passed down from person to person, as the art of our time.
