SHIMADANEKO was born in Osaka.
She graduated from the Department of Human Science at Konan University. She has always loved fantasizing the world in the art she drew and the books she read. This world became her safe place and her starting point. Influenced by such life experiences, she wanted to create a place for people to feel at ease, and started her art activities in 2016 as SHIMADANEKO. At one point of her life, she fell in love with a cat and started illustrating a slightly strange world with cats as the main subjects. Her main exhibitions include “Marugoto Cat Festival 2019 in Kobe” (Hyogo) in August 2019, “Daegu Art Fair 2019” (Korea) in November 2019, “KAWAII Thumb-hole Spring Exhibition” (Osaka) in January 2020, “Exhibition for a Bright Future” (Osaka) in January 2020, and so on. She mainly uses watercolor, but there are times when she uses oil paints, depending on the worldview she wants to express. Her style creates the same sensation as a scene in a story book. She hopes for people to feel the small and quiet story being told by her works.
