Yoko Kitazaki

Many innocent people have lost their lives, families, homes, and cities.
War is absolutely unacceptable.

Is there anything we can do to restore order to the world and defend justice?
To regain the blue sky again.

Let us gather as light and create a way to the future.
I dedicate my art to Ukraine with a prayer for peace.

“Defend Justice”

A desire for the unity and peace of those who defend and fight for their country. Indiscriminate bombardment that does not stop. Where is the justice of the international community? All the robbed lives had hope and love for the future.

“Blue Sky Again”

What was the color of the Ukrainian sky? The sky where the dust of the airstrikes dances and the cities turned into rubble. Many lost lives and love.Face it, this is reality.

“Gather as Light”

This is the Ukrainian flag. However, the light of the airstrikes is scattered across the blue sky, and the yellow land is dyed red. The hearts of those who do not give in will gather, and it will be the way of light that protects the future. I support Ukraine.

Yoko Kitazaki was born in Kyoto and learned oil painting from an early age. She loved the layered colors of “Water Lilies” by Monet and wanted to express the changing light. Having majored in dyeing at Kyoto City University of Arts, she still takes inspirations for her expression from Monet’s colors and the dyeing design.

Currently, she is working on acrylic abstract paintings. Exhibiting her works mainly at the international exhibitions by Italian artists’ groups, she also takes part in exhibitions in New York and Paris.

Duality is always rooted in the themes of her production which contains the message of “Seeing the whole phenomenon from the viewpoint of the mind.” As a feature of her work, she adds transitions such as “movement, flow, luster, lumps, and cracks” to the smooth paints. This can be viewed as magic the artist makes.
