What Yosuke Kurashima expresses in this photograph is life as seen through the contrast between “Young & Old.”
On the same branch, there is a contrast between a leaf that has aged with time and a leaf that has newly sprouted.
This diametrically opposed scene asks you to reconsider the meaning of life.

What Yosuke Kurashima is expressing in this photograph is life as seen through the contrast between “Organic & Inorganic.”
The contrast between the living and the non-living, the soft and the hard, the green and the red.
These opposite qualities are what prompt you to reconsider what life is all about.

When he was in high school, his father collapsed due to overwork and when he went to his hospital room, he felt sad because there was no window.

He immediately bought a mountain calendar for his father, who was a mountain lover, and gave it to him as a gift, saying, “Here’s a window,” which made his father very happy.

After that, he started to take photographs of leaves living strongly in various places, and this time, the composition makes viewers think about “LIFE” by contrasting various elements.

In 2020, I moved to Karuizawa, a place rich in nature, and have been taking photographs ever since.
His major solo exhibitions include Aoi Exhibition (Tokyo, 2010).
