Online Solo Exhibition yupuuri May 2022 - Online Exhibitions featuring original artwork and contemporary art on display at the JCAT Online Gallery

Pleased to meet you. I am yupuuri.

I create artworks to express the kindness and warmth of fabrics with various materials using random objects that I come across daily as their motifs. My motivation for creating is rooted in portraying the energetic presence of all creatures. Just as these creatures cheer me up, I hope to be the one to deliver cheers to the world.

tawa - Illustrator - JCAT artist

Ever since she was a little girl, yupuuri has always been fond of drawing pictures and making crafts. Having specialized in art in high school, she took a path of fashion art as her interest in fashion grew in her university days. She immersed herself in the joy of making clothes using various materials. After working as a designer of children’s clothes, she decided that she wanted to express the tenderness and warmth of fabrics through artworks while making use of her experience in designing.
In 2020, she coined the word yupuuri, merging her name Yuri and her beloved dog Puu to symbolize the happiness that resides in her. With her hope to deliver happiness to the whole world, she works on her pieces aiming to create digital art that no one has seen before. Her signature works are two-dimensional pieces in which “collage stuffed toys” and digital expression fuse together.

Major exhibitions include “Mystere I” exhibition at gallery art point, Ginza (2021) and at Hilton Tokyo (2021). In 2022, she was awarded the Contemporary Art Prize for “Heart Art in KYOTO” at the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art.
