Yuu Tsukinaga is an artist who places the utmost importance on being genuine – staying true to what she intends.
Born in Kyoto, she developed a severe mental disorder that nearly cost her life due to continuous abuse she suffered from an early age. Creative activity was her joy and her only escape.
While studying psychology and exploring herself for mental and physical recovery, she met a mystic. She put the numerous teachings into practice for over a decade and achieved her goals. Through it, she learned that it is within our minds that phenomena are created.
She intends to make the ‘Beauty’ she feels resonate widely in this world – the beauty of gratitude and joy that springs from the bottom of our hearts; and peace of mind.
In her creative work, she always faces her inner self without being bound by any form of expression and thus continues to train herself.
Her main exhibits include a solo exhibition “Flowering” in Paris (2015), “Girona Temps de Flors” (2017/2018), and “KIRIKO the MUSEUM” at Tokyu Plaza Ginza (2020). She also created paintings for wooden doors in Shojuin-temple “Grapes and Squirrels”(2021).
Her works are housed in six shrines and temples, including Mt.Hiei Enryaku-Ji, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
